8.01 PEELING THE ONION - KOSHA WORKSHOP by Victoria Larsson

  • HAR STUDIO 116 Urbanstraße Berlin, Berlin, 10967 Deutschland (map)

One way of looking at our bodies and 'ourselves' is via the yogic concept of Koshas.

Koshas means sheaths or casings. We can also think of them as layers of an onion. Or as a set of Russian dolls.

According to the old texts, the five koshas exist together and are nested inside one another. Our physical body is the outermost layer, containing all the others

The koshas were first described in the ancient yoga text the Taittiriya Upanishad. This Vedic text is thought to have been written during the sixth century B.C. and provides guidelines relating to spiritual liberation.

Language is a metaphor or a map rather than reality.

This way of looking at our experience is one that resonates with me, so I'm happy to invite you to 'peel the onion' through yoga asana, breathwork and meditation.
